HTML5 from the Mobile Perspective July 23rd, 2009

So there’s an interesting article over at Cloud Four which takes on the HTML5 discussion from the standpoint of the mobile market.

Their bottom line seems to be that the iPhone, Mobile Safari, and all the other WebKit mobile browsers are going to push HTML5 adoption forward where other browser platforms will lag behind. They point to the Blackberry as a major factor holding back the HTML5 mobile Web.

There may be some truth to that.

They also point out that the WHATWG started as an application-centric effort and still largely remains that way. HTML5 and it’s related API’s as a whole are really most compelling when looked at from an application development standpoint.
